The 90% Challenge – Can You Survive Without Your Phone?
We all say we can quit anytime we want, but the "Digital Detox" project is going to put that to the test. The organizers have thrown down a gauntlet for the participants coming to Germany: they are looking for people ready to not use their phones for 90% of the time during the exchange.
Why So Strict?
It sounds intense, but it's necessary. The project profiles specifically asked for young people aged 18-30 who are eager to explore the effects of social media on their lives. You can't really understand your addiction to a device if it's still in your pocket buzzing every five minutes.
By cutting out the digital noise, the group can focus on the "Mission Impossible" workshops and other activities designed to challenge how we think about communication.
Replacing the Screen
So, what do you do when you can't scroll? You get creative. The program includes workshops on mindful social media use, where you actually learn strategies to stay sane when you do go back online.
There are also physical activities like yoga and outdoor sports to get the dopamine flowing naturally.
The "Fewer Opportunities" Focus
This challenge is open to everyone, but the project is really committed to inclusion. They specifically reserved spots for participants who face economic, social, or cultural barriers. It's about leveling the playing field.
Whether you are from a big city like Berlin or Bordeaux, or somewhere smaller, everyone is stripping away the digital layer to connect as humans. It's a week of "learning by doing," simulation games, and controversial discussions that you just can't replicate in a WhatsApp group chat.
